Satan's Mastiff:
A new breed in development!
We are involved in a new breeding program to produce the ultimate family guard/protection dog. We have selected the Mastiff (Old English) and the Chihuahua as the parent breeds. Thanks to modern technology, such breeding is now possible.
OUR DESIRED FUTURE BREED STANDARD:
GENERAL APPEARANCE: Looks like a giant, oversized Chihuahua....but proportionately more muscular and dense. Should be very intimidating....not in the least bit comical to the eye!
HEAD: Resembles the head of a Chihuahua, but the size of a Mastiff's. A well rounded "apple dome" skull. Expression: Evil. Eyes: Full, but not protruding, balanced, set well apart. Extra large, erect type ears held more upright when alert, but flaring to the sides at a 45 degree angle when in repose, giving breadth between the ears. Muzzle Moderately short, slightly pointed. Cheeks and jaws lean, but proportionately more broad than a Chihuahua. Bite Level or scissors, with naturally bearing front teeth. Fangs should be visible even with mouth closed.
NECK, TOPLINE & BODY: Neck slightly arched, gracefully sloping into lean shoulders. Topline level. Body ribs rounded and well sprung (but not too much "barrel-shaped"). Tail Moderately long, carried sickle either up or out, or in a loop over the back, with tip just touching the back (never tucked between legs) Disqualifications: Cropped tail, bobtail.
FOREQUARTERS: Shoulders broad and massive, sloping into a slightly broadening support above muscular forelegs that set well under, giving a free play at the elbows. Shoulders should be well up, giving balance and soundness, sloping into a strong, level back. (Never down or low.) Massive, but athletic hind legs. Feet: like a Mastiff.
HINDQUARTERS: Very muscular, with hocks well apart, neither out nor in, well let down, firm and sturdy. The feet are as in front.
COAT: This will vary, but a short & glossy coat will be most favored.
COLORS: Any color: Solid, marked, brindled or splashed. Dark colors will be most favored.
TEMPERAMENT: Very docile with all family members, but extremely suspicious of anyone (man or beast) who does not reside in the dog's home. The ideal dog will retain the alert watchdog ability of the Chihuahua, but with the size & guarding qualities of the Mastiff.
SIZE: Males should not weigh less than 150 pounds. Range for males should be 150 to 200 pounds. Females should not weigh less than 100 pounds. Range for females should be 100 to 150 pounds. Dogs weighing more are allowed. Heights will vary. Weight should be the sole measure of size....not height.
FOUNDATION STOCK:
We have already begun our initial cross between 2 choice specimens. They are both very well-bred dogs with good pedigrees. The Mastiff bitch was artificially inseminated by the sperm of the male Chihuahua.
THE SIRE: "Bilbo", a 6 pound Chihuahua.
THE BITCH: "Xena", a 205 pound Mastiff.
They produced 2 live puppies...both males, and registered with the CKC. One of them has been approved as breeding stock. He is currently 6 months old and 42 pounds. He seems to be very close to the physical conformation and temperament we are looking for. We will be mating him to almost a dozen different female Mastiff's within the next year. His name is "Satan's Grandpa", and here is a picture.

We are in the process of purchasing many more female Mastiffs to diversify our breeding program. We will register all of our pups with the CKC. It will take some years, but our new breed will be a reality soon enough. Keep checking these page every few months for updates, new pics, news, etc.
